Wonderful way to make sure your guests RSVP

pre-wedding-photography-in-Melbourne-Australia-11Having people RSVP, on time or at all, is a real problem. I’ve blogged before about RSVPs and people not turning up on your wedding day.

I recently heard about a genius way to make sure that guests RSVP to your wedding. Don’t give all of the information on your invitation! As strange as this may sound. Leave the important details off, the address of the ceremony or the function center details for the reception, or both. People will have to contact you or whomever you choose to get further details about attending the wedding.

Make sure that you have worked out how you want this information then given later. There are many ways that this can be done.

You could set up a website that is provided to the people that RSVP via an email or a text message so that you can have all of the information ready to go. I’ve blogged before about having a website with information for the guests, you can read it here. You don’t even have to monitor that yourself, you can always have a bridesmaid or one of your family members who is wanting to help be in charge of getting all of the RSVP emails sent to them.

You could send out a second paper invitation or information sheet to them if you prefer the snail mail option. You could have some fun with this by having creative invitations sent as the first invite with the ‘RSVP for more information’.  You could have a video invitation, like Leah and Mark had, that had a second part sent as a link when people responded. My friend had tea towels printed for her wedding invite, you could send something like that out and then send out a second one with all the relevant information on them once you received the initial interest from the guests. Again, this is a way that you can ‘theme’ your wedding to your personalities and you are only limited by your imagination, and time and budget!

There are so many great ways that you could use this idea to your advantage. Do you think that this is a good way to get guests to respond?

A very big thank you to Love Journal Photography for the use of their images on this weeks blog. Check out their website and have a look at their facebook to see all their latest work.

Funky save the date

Friends of mine, Scarlett and Tom, are getting married this year and a few weeks ago I received my save the date. They know how to make a good invitation! I conducted their little girl, Emily’s, naming day which had some great invitations too! Scarlett and I have had many wedding discussions (one of my favourite things to talk about) and I had heard a couple of the ideas for the save the date. I wasn’t 100% sure what way they were going to go with them and when I opened it I was blown away.

I could feel that it wasn’t just a standard postcard type save the date as the envelope was thicker. I was so excited to see how it looked. They chose to have a pop up polaroid going along with their love of photography, film and taking a great selfie. The best bit is the actual little polaroid that pops out of the camera. It’s a magnet! So all of those people who mean to put their save the date in a safe place can actually put the most important part of it all on the fridge so that it doesn’t get lost.
What a great idea! I love the metallic paper for the background, it really makes all of the photos pop and the magnet is such a brilliant idea. Can’t wait for the actual invites now!

Wedding under a tree

I’m really looking forward to this wedding. A dear friend of mine is getting married and I can’t wait to see what she has planned for her day. She is getting married under a tree at a beautiful vineyard.  The tree has featured strongly in the invites and was on the save the dates too. (Check out the blog about the save the date here)

So excited to see what their day will bring. I was really excited to get the invite  in the mail and see the way that the ‘love tree’ has featured.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the blog all about their special day.

Outstanding save the date

I received a ‘save the date’ in the mail for a wedding that I am also conducting the ceremony. It is just stunning, very simple and lovely and it just has the most beautiful warmth to the image. I know a lot of save the dates now are just words or illustrations on a page, stunning and simple. What I love about this one is the image of that tree. There is something special about it. I know that it is going to be a very special part of the day with the ceremony being held underneath its branches. I am so looking forward to this special day and all that it holds.
Just on another nerdy photographic note. The paper stock that these are printed on gives the photo such a beautiful warmth. I can’t wait to see what the invitations themselves look like too.
Cindy and Shane  included a wonderful information sheet of where there guests could stay and some information about a bus service that will be operating on the day too. Such wonderful and considerate ideas.

Fantastic Baby Naming Save the Date

I am lucky enough to be conducting a baby naming in the New Year, of a very special little lady-pants. I was honoured to be able to conduct the wedding of her parents last year. (See the blog about Dan and Kate’s beautiful day here.)

Kate and Dan know that it is a busy time of the year and that some of their family go away, so they have decided to send out a baby naming save the date. They will be having the baby naming to coincide with little lady-pants’ 1st birthday, it is a great idea to combine the two events.

Those of you who read my blog regularly will know how much I love a great invitation and I just had to share how fun this save the date was. I’m looking forward to sharing with you all about her naming day too!

Beautiful Bird Invitations

Jim and Gemma’s wedding is coming up and I got the invite in the mail a while ago. I previously blogged about their save the date card, but the wedding invitations are just lovely. If you read my blog regularly you will know how much I love a good wedding invitation. I think they can be a great way to let people know the style or theme of the wedding, and just another way to let your personality shine through. You can see their save the date cards here.

These invitations are a fantastic example of this. Jim and Gemma are having there wedding out at Healesville Sanctuary. For those of you who don’t know Healesville Sanctuary is a zoo specialising in native Australian animals, which also has a history of breeding native animals. Jim and Gemma love the outdoors and animals and this is a great way for them to show this to all of the people that they have invited.

They have not only found some lovely invitations that reflect the style and theme, but they have put a lot of time into giving their guests all of the information that they may require for the day. They have guests travelling from all corners of the globe to share in their special day and they haven’t forgotten a thing on the information sheet.  They have included a map, information about accommodation, information about a shuttle bus service that they have organised (due to unreliable taxi’s in the area), information about people bringing their kids, down to helpful information about comfortable shoes. They have also given guests information about a dinner the evening before and a brunch the day after for people planning to make a weekend of it all.

You can find out more about Healesville Sanctuary on their website by clicking here.

Simply Stunning Wedding Invitations

Courtney and Tim are getting married in November. They are not just having a Wedding but they are having a ‘Wedstival’, a wedding crossed with a festival.  I have been following Courtney’s ideas on Pintrest and am loving talking about wedding things when we catch up. Not only does she have amazing ideas on her Pintrest but she had designed all of the wedding invitations herself.  She did the illustrations for her save the date cards too. From the date cards, I knew that the invitations would be great.

Courtney is really artistic and has had work published in Frankie magazine on a regular basis, and now has her own Etsy store full of her beautiful illustrations.  So when I got to see the invitations I wasn’t disappointed. I love opening an invitation that is an experience, not just beautiful. I hope the photos do them justice.  I look forward to blogging all about their Wedstival and sharing their special day with you.

You can have Courtney make maps for any occasion, or contact her about any illustration work through her Etsy store. Check it out here.
